I’m a bit of a sucker for movies about Churchill. I saw that recent one that was set later in the war and featured Brian Cox in the eponymous title role, but this was a better film, which I can tell by the fact that I cried more.
Gary Oldman deserved his Oscar. I loved this movie, and I loved the fact that it ended, like ‘Dunkirk’, with the famous ‘we will fight them on the beaches’ speech. I was a soggy, liquid wreck by then. But happy and uplifted. ‘Nuff said.
